Depth & Relational Psychotherapy
for Individuals & Couples
Psychological support that empowers you to understand, heal, and thrive.
Offerings
Individual Psychotherapy
True relief does not come from suppressing or avoiding your symptoms, but from learning to listen to them with curiosity and developing genuine self-compassion. My approach weaves together deep self-inquiry with the practical need to build healthy coping strategies. Together, we will move beyond the adaptive illusions that obscure your true self, working toward greater authenticity. By viewing your symptoms—whether anxiety, depression, or repetitive behaviors—as meaningful signals rather than random obstacles, we can uncover the hidden beliefs, patterns, and interpersonal dynamics that perpetuate distress. Our therapeutic relationship becomes a safe and collaborative space for decoding these messages and practicing healthier ways of being. As we identify, honor, and tend to core existential and emotional wounds, symptoms can give way to a more authentic, vibrant, and grounded expression of self.
Couples Psychothreapy
My approach to couples therapy honors the complexity of your union by exploring the deeper, often unconscious patterns that shape your dynamic. Rather than focusing on surface-level arguments, we will examine the underlying currents, personal beliefs, and histories that fuel connection and conflict, viewing these challenges as invitations to individual and relational growth. This deep investigative work for couples is grounded in a structural framework that also provides access to practical, actionable tools for communication and conflict management. By blending insight with tangible skills, we will work to understand your friendship, rebuild it, cultivate shared meaning, and create a resilient foundation for a conscious, lasting partnership.
About Me
I am a licensed Psychotherapist (LMFT) with a physical office in Oakland, California. I have been in clinical practice for over two decades.
My therapy orientation is an integration of depth, interpersonal, relational, existential/humanistic, and harm-reduction oriented psychotherapy.
Along with providing individual counseling and therapy, I have served in the non-profit community behavioral health sector as an Executive and Co-Executive Director, Program Director, and as a Clinical Supervisor for license candidates and substance use counselors.
I studied and dual-majored in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from San Francisco State University. I received my LMFT license in 2010.
My clinical training is continuous, and I’ve most recently been involved in the advanced seminars at the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco.
Raised in the Midwest and educated in the East, I have called the Bay Area home for over 25 years. I am a proud father of two boys transitioning from adolescence to adulthood.
Specializations
Life Transitions & Individuation
We view periods of upheaval not merely as stressful disruptions, but as necessary rites of passage—opportunities to shed outgrown identities and step into a more authentic version of yourself.
Recovery &
Substance Use
Meeting you where you are, using harm-reduction, without judgment, we balance practical strategies for safety with a deep curiosity about the underlying function of your substance use. We treat it as an attempt to soothe pain, beliefs, or experiences that deserve to be heard and understood.
Existential & Identity
By courageously facing life’s fundamental questions of meaning, isolation, and mortality, we can transform feelings of emptiness or anxiety into a deeper, more conscious engagement with your sense of purpose.
Men’s Work
We provide a space to look behind cultural masks, helping you access a fuller range of emotion and to cultivate relationships grounded in honesty and vulnerability, rather than outdated expectations.
